1) Don't let the water run!
-If you just don't let the water run while you're brushing your teeth you can save up to 38 litres of water a day per family!! That's 19 2L bottles of pop!!
2) Make your own household cleaner. I know I was a sucker for all the new cleaners coming out and all the fun scents but when you really think about it is it good for your health and house? Try a natural alternative like this one
-Soak some orange peels in a clean jar a vinegar for two weeks.
-Strain the vinegar and add it to water 2:1 (1cup vinegar, 2cups water)
-Mix into a spray bottle and start cleaning
3) Use your green bin! Or build your own composer in your backyard. It cuts back on your garbage bag load and no more smelly garbage!
4) Put all your bills online. This was a hard switch for me since I like the physical bill in my hand. But I ended up cutting down like 7 paper bills per month. Over a year that's a lot of paper imagine if every family did it?
5) Get a clothes drying rack for the basement (or where ever you do your laundry). I love drying my clothes in the dryer but many things don't need to be it's just a waste of energy. I now hang my blankets, bathrobes, jeans, undershirts for sure and some other things depending on the material.
Hope this is helpful and slowly these things will become habit...one step in the right direction!
